In 1913 visionary, tycoon and hotel owner Henry Flagler,proposed building a railroad 130 miles out to sea in the Key
West area. Seven years later despite numerous obstacles, including hurricanes, the Key West extension, was completed. Flagler Station is an enduring tribute to this triumph of engineering feat.
